You Don’t Have to Buy a Jet
First things first – you don’t have to buy a private jet to enjoy traveling on one. Few of us can afford the few hundred thousand to several million dollars it costs to purchase a private jet. Plus, there are the ongoing costs of operating and maintaining an aircraft.
Luckily, that’s not your only option.
Chartering a Private Jet
If you can find a few friends who also want to fly private, you can all split the private plane cost. Chartering a jet is a great idea for groups of 4 to up to 19 passengers.
How much does it cost to charter a plane? Well, that depends on the size.
A smaller jet plane or a turboprop can usually hold 4 to 6 passengers. This generally will cost between $1,300 and $3,000 per flying hour. A midsize jet, which commonly holds up to 9 passengers, runs around $4,000 to $8,000 per flying hour.
Have a larger group? A large get that seats 14 to 19 passengers would set you back between $8,600 per $13,000 per flying hour.
Assume you’ve got 6 people who want to take a 6-hour private cross-country flight on a small jet. The total cost would be between $7,800 and $18,000 – or $1,300 to $3,000 per person.
While this certainly isn’t a small amount, many people feel that the benefits of flying private are well worth the cost. It’s always been a more convenient and luxurious experience. Now, as this post explains, it’s also a safer option in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Booking a Single Seat
Still feeling put-off by the high cost to fly private? Don’t give up yet!
You can book a single seat on a private jet! This is known as a public charter private just flight. Sometimes, you can find a one-way fare for as low as $69.
